For more than 15 years, the Flanders-China Chamber of Commerce and the Weihai government have formed a strong bond to help build and then strengthen trade relations between both sides and to introduce each other’s investment environment.
The Chamber has received many delegations from the city and also organised several business delegations to Weihai. The city has already major investments from Belgian companies, such as those from Bekaert, Beaulieu International Group. The Huiyin Group, a Chinese company established by a Belgian in Weihai, recently invested in Flanders.
The cities of Ghent and Weihai also signed a partner city agreement which will give the opportunity to exchange information and to develop our cooperation across the board, including economic, trade, culture and education ties.
Weihai has a very business-friendly investment environment. The seven pillar industries are Information technology, Medicine & medical devices, Advanced equipment and intelligent manufacturing, Carbon fiber,Marine biology and healthy food, Fashion and leisure sports products, Health & wellness tourism.
When we visit Weihai, we never cease to be impressed with its dynamism and fast development. The GDP of Weihai reached USD49.5 bn in 2021, the economic growth is above the national average. It is also a wonderful place to live and work, with spectacular scenery and a clean environment.
