EU-China Conference: European Business in China Business Confidence Survey – 29 June 2023 – Brussels

The EU-China Business Association, BusinessEurope and the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China are pleased to invite you to join the presentation of the European Chamber’s annual Business Confidence Survey, where Mr Jens Eskelund, European Chamber President, will share the key findings of this year’s survey outlining European business sentiment in China.

This event will take place on 29 June at 14h30 at BusinessEurope, Avenue de Cortenbergh 168, 1000 Brussels. Please note that seats for physical participation are limited and will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis.

Background

Since China ended its ‘zero-COVID’ strategy, Chinese officials have been on a charm offensive in an attempt to restore the country’s allure as an investment destination. However, more will need to be done if China is to successfully reverse the deterioration of business sentiment that has taken place over the past three years.

European companies have already begun shifting investments overseas and, faced with growing risks and a more volatile operating environment, many have adjusted their investment and operational strategies. There is now an increased focus on making operations more durable — for example, through localization or diversification of supply chains — as opposed to capturing market share. With China’s economy facing numerous headwinds, this trend appears set to continue at least into the medium-term.

The EU-China Business Association is the EU-wide federation of business organizations in the EU promoting business relations with China. The Flanders-China Chamber of Commerce is in charge of the Vice-Presidency and Secretariate-General of EUCBA.
