Chinese semiconductor companies showcase new products at Shenzhen expo

Chinese semiconductor companies unveiled new products featuring cutting-edge technologies at the WeSemiBay Semiconductor Ecosystem Expo in Shenzhen, as China is experiencing rapid growth and achieving breakthroughs across multiple domains of the industry. Shenzhen LongSight Technology unveiled the global launch of its independently developed new-generation ultra-high-speed real-time oscilloscopes. With a bandwidth exceeding 90 GHz, it ranks second in the world and has broad industrial applications in the fields of semiconductors, 6G and optical communications, and intelligent driving, said CEO Liu Sang. Shenzhen LongSight Technology is a subsidiary of SiCarrier.

Another subsidiary of SiCarrier has released proprietary electronic design automation (EDA) software. Wuhan Qiyunfang launched two EDA products – one for schematic capture and another for printed circuit board (PCB) design – at WeSemiBay. The EDA software market is currently dominated by foreign suppliers including Cadence Design Systems, Synopsys and Siemens EDA. China’s top semiconductor design software vendors include Empyrean Technology, Primarius Technologies and Semitronix. Qiyunfang’s EDA products are compatible with a wide range of domestic operating systems, databases and middleware platforms. It also claimed that the software’s performance exceeded industry benchmarks by 30%, while also reducing hardware development cycles by up to 40%.

At the Expo, the 2024 China Top 10 Chip Science Progress Awards were also announced. Several research teams from Chinese universities, including the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Tsinghua University, and Hunan University, were among the recipients. Jin Xianmin, Executive Editor of CHIP, a comprehensive international journal focused on chip research based in Shanghai, said that apart from the shortage of lithography machines, China has made significant progress in various areas of chip technology. He suggested that breakthroughs could be achieved through architectural innovations and new chip platforms, such as photonic chips, to leapfrog rivals.

The Expo has attracted more than 600 companies from home and abroad. Covering an exhibit area of 60,000 square meters, the Expo focused on four major exhibition zones, including wafer manufacturing, advanced packaging, IC design, and compound semiconductors, the China Daily reports.
