Last week, a high-level delegation of Zhuhai officials visited Belgium. The delegation had an interesting meeting at Umicore and the Flanders-China Chamber of Commerce during which they introduced the business investment environment of Zhuhai. The delegation was received by the Vice President of Operations Battery Materials, Mr Matt Chervaty and Mrs Nathalie Bortels, UMS Global Operations Director and Gwenn Sonck FCCC. The delegation also visited the FCCC in Gent and discussed potential cooperation between Zhuhai and FCCC and its member companies. The delegation was received by Gwenn Sonck, Executive Director FCCC.
Zhuhai is located in Guangdong Province and is part of the Greater Bay Area (GBA), an economic hub that includes Hong Kong, Macau, and nine cities in Guangdong, with a total population of over 70 million inhabitants. The GBA is a key region for China’s economic development, encompassing sectors such as finance, technology, manufacturing, logistics, and tourism. Zhuhai, known for its strong economic metrics, plays an important role in high-tech industries. The city offers trade and investment opportunities within the GBA, providing incentives and a conducive environment for international businesses. Zhuhai's infrastructure, including its deep-water port and connectivity to major cities via high-speed rail and highways, enhances its attractiveness as a business destination.
Zhuhai's economy is diversified across several key sectors. The city is a hub for electronics and electrical appliances, biotechnology, and precision machinery. The advanced manufacturing sector is supported by extensive research and development facilities. Additionally, Zhuhai is a leader in renewable energy and environmental protection industries, focusing on sustainable development.
