The role
You’re responsible for starting up the technical team in the new export market China. Together with the foreign technicians (to be trained) you take care with your team of the technical elaboration/follow-up/content of the requested projects and this within the defined planning/timing.

Tasks

  • Training technicians abroad.
  • Implementing all technical Reynaers resources to be able to support the customers efficiently on a local level.
  • Connection function between local Reynaers technicians and Reynaers Aluminium Duffel, until the local technicians are sufficiently independent to take over this function.
  • Gives, within the scope of the requested projects, technical advice/consultation towards the architect/fabricator/builder concerned, possibly with the support of Reynaers Aluminium Duffel.
  • Works out the first project proposal(s), possibly together with the project cell in Belgium, and negotiates this/these with the local parties concerned until a sales agreement is reached.
  • Responsible for the daily functioning of his local team.
  • Close cooperation with the different Reynaers Aluminium Duffel departments, both the development departments as far as existing series/products are concerned, and the Research & Engineering department as far as project engineering and the application of new technologies are concerned, and ensures a good information flow towards the local technicians, customers, investors etc.
  • Training local customers regarding the Reynaers systems and resources.
  • Support regarding price calculations (Reynapro).
  • Analysing technical proposals.
  • Offering optimal technical solutions.
  • Stability calculations.
  • Preparation technical presentations for sales meetings, architect seminars, customer meetings etc.
  • Preparation price analyses, comparison with competitors.
  • Reports to local country manager.
  • Responsibility
  • Management : daily management of his team
  • Financial : no direct purchase authority
  • Budget : no direct budget responsibility; however because of ‘indirect’ commercial implication in the technical support of the local market, he contributes to the turnover in this market; 
  • follows up costs of his cell within the scope of the defined budgets.
  • Communication – outside organisational structure : 
  • Very frequent communication with Reynaers Aluminium Duffel, and with the different commercial partners (architect, builder, fabricator, control institutes).

Strategic impact

  • Contributes to the success of Reynaers on the new export markets by providing optimal technical solutions, and by ensuring the training of the local partners.

Knowledge and capacities

  • Training/experience : bachelor or master in engineering, metal processing or equivalent
  • Languages : fluent English
  • Capacities : enthusiastic and motivated, pragmatic, communicative, result-oriented, commercial feeling for the ‘technical negotiation’, open to other cultures.

For this position we are looking for candidates fulfilling the above-mentioned description and prepared to settle abroad (present opening is China (Shanghai)). The minimum duration is 2 years with an option for extension of 1 year.
