On 11 September 2009, the Flanders-China Chamber of Commerce (FCCC) and VOKA – Chamber of Commerce West-Flanders, received a high-level delegation from the Jiangsu Xishan Economic Development Zone in Wuxi city, Jiangsu province. Wuxi city, at the heart of the Yangtze River Delta, is one of 15 economic centers in China and ranks second in Jiangsu province, one of China's economic hot spots.

Mr Bernard Dursin, Board Member of the FCCC and Chairman of FlandersTradelink welcomed the delegation. Mr Zhu Aixun, Secretary of both the CPC XSEDZ Committee and CPC Xishan Committee made a presentation on the investment environment and opportunities for cooperation in the XSEDZ.

The Xishan Economic Development Zone (XSEDZ) was set up in November 1992 and boasts the best transportation network in Wuxi, with the Shanghai-Beijing Express Railway station and the entry and exit of the Shanghai-Nanjing Highway within its borders.
The XSEDZ is just a 15 minutes' drive away from downtown Wuxi city and is home to specialized science parks.

The main industries it covers are electronics and electronic materials, precision machinery and automotive components, high-tech textiles and modern logistics. The Zone currently includes
over 1,300 companies, more than 700 of which are foreign-funded. Bekaert, which is active in the textile machinery industry, has an important investment in the Zone. Mr Michel Van De Velde, General Manager Bekaert Carding Solutions, shared Bekaert's successful experience of investing in Wuxi.
