“China remains attractive for foreign investors – but do your homework first.” On 17 April 2007, The Flanders-China Chamber of Commerce, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Allen & Overy organized a seminar about the new Tax Reform and the latest changes regarding the protection of Intellectual Property in China.

The seminar began with an introduction by Mr Bernard Dursin, Vice-President of the FCCC. He also explained briefly Barco’s experience about IPR in China. Next, Mr Alan Yam, partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers China focused on the impact of the recently approved Corporate Income Tax Law and gave an overview of the possible ways to react. The other guest speakers were two IP experts from Allen & Overy, namely Mr HongXu Qin and Mr Akash Sachdeva. 

This presentation covered the registration and the enforcement aspects of IPR’s. Also other topics such as the IP aspect of transaction and licensing and employment related IP issues were addressed. Finally, Ms Ruth Hemelaer of PricewaterhouseCoopers wrapped-up and gave the possibility to ask questions. Members can obtain a copy of the slides at : mailto:info@flanders-china.be
