On 20 March 2008, the Flanders-China Chamber of Commerce and the Province of East-Flanders organized a conference on immigration matters with the support of Flanders Investment & Trade.

The conference focused on the employment of Chinese nationals in Belgium and
more precisely on:

  •  the application for work permits  and professional cards;
  • visa applications and residence issues;
  • the Limosa registration requirements;
  • social security and employment law  compliance.

The Immigration workshop provided the participants with a sound knowledge and understanding on these issues which enabled them to tackle the immigration compliance requirements in due time and to organize themselves without loosing precious time and resources.

The participants were welcomed by Mr Marc De Buck, Member of the Provincial Government of East Flanders and in charge of Economic Affairs and International Relations.
The speakers were introduced by Mrs Gwenn Sonck, Executive Director of the Flanders-China Chamber of Commerce.

Speakers were Erwin Vandervelde and Matthias Lommers of the Law firm Laga.
Both speakers have a solid experience in advising major Belgian and Belgian-based international companies with respect to immigration and related issues.

The conference was attended by 50 participants.
