In the framework of the “2024 East Asia Platform Academic Lecture Series”, 4 lectures will be organised in the evening in Paviljoen Vandenhove in Ghent.

1. Wednesday 13 November 2024: Lecture by Dr. Heng Chen, Department of Languages and Cultures, Faculty of Arts and Philosophy, Ghent University “Between Cosmopolitanism and Nationalism: Lu Xun’s Influence on Chinese society’s Perspective on the World.”

2. Wednesday 27 November 2024: Lecture by Prof. Bart Dessein: Department of Oriental Languages and Cultures, Faculty of Arts and Philosophy, Ghent University and Egmont – Royal Institute for International Relations, Brussels "How Geopolitics shape Geo-economics: China, its Periphery, and the Global South"

3. Tuesday 3 December 2024: Lecture by Jasper Roctus, Department of Languages and Cultures, Faculty of Arts and Philosophy, Ghent University and Egmont – Royal Institute for International Relations, Brussels “Cross-Strait Relations and the Geopolitical Impact on Contemporary Society in Taiwan and East Asia.”

4. Tuesday 10 December 2024: Lecture by Prof. Sven Biscop, Faculty of Political and Social Sciences, Ghent University and Director of the Europe in the World Programme at the Egmont – Royal Institute for International Relations, Brussels “China and the Ukraine War: Where Is Great Power Politics Heading?”
