The Province of Flemish Brabant is forging close ties with regions that complement and strengthen its assets.

Just like our own province, the regions in question are knowledge regions with particular strengths in health, food, logistics, cleantech and the creative sector. These regions are some of our main trade partners, and in addition, we coo- perate closely with them in European projects

What does the province do?

• We support and act as a matchmaker between businesses/research institutions
• We facilitate incoming and outgoing missions
• We jointly develop European projects
• We exchange administrative knowledge and experience

Flemish Brabant twinned with the Chinese metropolis of Chengdu in 2011. As well as generating exchange and cooperation, the partnership provides businesses and institutions in Flemish Brabant with preferential access to China.

The province cooperates with Chengdu in five areas: foreign investment, the five clusters of Smart Hub Flemish Brabant (health, logistics, food, cleantech & creativity), people-to-people exchange (education, culture etc.), conservation of intangible heritage and involving local municipalities in this international partnership.
